Microstructural Evolution and Electrochemical Behavior of Solution Treated, Hot Rolled and Aged MgDyZnZr Alloy

In order to develop a potential route fabricate plates and clips for orthopedic applications, Mg–3.4Dy–0.2Zn–0.4Zr (wt.%) alloy was produced analyzed in different conditions: solution treated at 525 °C 3 h, hot rolled aged 250 °C. The aging behavior of the investigated during isothermal °C, significant peak observed 10 h. electrochemical evaluated 0.9 wt.% NaCl 37 ± 0.5 by potentiodynamic polarization impedance spectroscopy. °C-3 h specimens exhibited corrosion rates 2.0 1.7 mm/year, respectively. specimen presented grain size 11.8 μm with an intense macrotexture basal {0002} plane, hardness 73 HV higher modulus obtained highest resistance rate mm/year.
